Today we learn of another case of gross over-spending by the Ministry of Defence with the disclosure on the recently launched MyProcurement web portal that a private limited company was awarded a 3-year contract worth RM6.47 billion to supply fresh rations to army camps in Perlis, Kedah and Pulau Pinang. Just to put things in perspective, this is an example of what’s contained in a US Marine Corps A-ration pack (courtesy of Wikipedia):
Marine-Corps issued A-ration, colloquially known as a “bag nasty”. This example contains two breakfast sandwiches, cereal, crackers with peanut butter and jam, a muffin, fresh fruit and a drink.
