Meeting my constituents at Ramadan bazaar

Last weekend, I visited the Ramadan bazaars at SS18 and USJ 4. I wanted to meet the traders and residents.

This year MPSJ has set new rules requiring traders:
(1) to have standardised MPSJ canopies
(2) to dismantle their canopies and pack up their stalls daily after trading.

This is to promote cleanliness. Some residents have informed me that this new rule is a step forward as it promotes good hygiene. Before issuing the licences for the bazaar, MPSJ conducted a briefing for all interested traders and they were all briefed on the do’s and don’ts to ensure that this year’s Ramadan bazaars operate more efficiently and orderly.

The police officers from SS17 and USJ 8 police stations were also present to give out Balik Kampung Rumah Selamat forms for anyone who will be away during the festive seasons. This festive program is one of the many ways to fight crime in our neighbourhood and I hope more residents will take advantage of this program by the police.
