My office first brainstormed the idea of having a composting project months ago but we thought a project like this would never see the light of day without co-operation and commitment from the residents. Over a casual chat, we threw that challenge to the residents of SS14/7 and it took off from there. Parents got together and decided to get their children involved. They donated for the production of t-shirts and encouraged their children to compost.
You can read about it here in The Star. I must thank the residents of SS14/7, Chief Inspector Sulaiman, YDP Dato’ Adnan, Mdm Theresa Ratnam Thong (MPSJ Councillor) and most of all Puan Che Asmah Ibrahim (Director of Department of Environment Selangor) for her support and presence at the launch. Starbucks also participated in this project by donating their used coffee grounds.

This is truly an epitome of a community project in which you see the young and the old, the residents, the local council and the corporate sponsor involved. In my speech to this group of composting pioneers, I encouraged them not to underestimate their effort, every little step counts in making our earth greener and I pray that this fine example will chart a trail for other resident groups to follow.
