Media Statement by Hannah Yeoh dated 25 May 2018
Yesterday, I paid a courtesy call on the OCPD of IPD Sentul ACP Munusamy Rengasamy. Present at the meeting were the heads of the different departments in IPD Sentul and the 3 OCS of Balai Polis Sentul, Balai Polis Jinjang and Balai Polis Kepong.
This courtesy call provided the opportunity for me to understand the different jurisdictions of IPD Sentul which covers another significant portion of Segambut. I was also briefed on local crime issues in the area.
During the meeting, I shared my key priorities for Segambut namely the safety in neighbourhoods and crime involving teenagers. I believe a strong relationship between the police force and the community would be effective in tackling these matters.
I also took the opportunity to understand the challenges that confront the welfare of the police personnel in IPD Sentul. Among the challenges highlighted to me are the inadequate police housing and lack of budget for general upkeep of old police facilities. I will study and raise these issues concerning the police force when Parliament convenes.
I look forward to working closely with the police force in both IPD Sentul and IPD Brickfields in the coming years to ensure the wellbeing and safety of the residents in Segambut.
