Media Statement by Hannah Yeoh dated 23 May 2018
Today, I paid a courtesy call on the OCPD of IPD Brickfields ACP Ruslan Bin Khalid. I was also introduced to the 3 heads of Balai Polis Sri Hartamas, Balai Polis Taman Tun Dr. Ismail and Balai Polis Travers, all of which are located in the parliamentary seat of Segambut.
This visit is crucial to understand the different jurisdictions of IPD Brickfields. IPD Brickfields covers about 40% of the total area of Segambut. I highlighted the need for greater engagement by the police force with residents and also discussed some local concerns highlighted by resident groups such as Mont Kiara Community Society.
I also took the opportunity to understand the provision of facilities such as budget and manpower for IPD Brickfields and if there is a need, to highlight the same when Parliament convenes. Security remains a top concern for the well-being of the people in Segambut.
While waiting for the swearing-in ceremony in Parliament to take place, I will spend the next two weeks to meet different authorities overseeing Segambut and to understand their roles and limitations. We are now in the process of setting up our service centre and once minor renovation works are completed, we will be making a public announcement on this.
